Redman Fisher, for several decades, has received minimal investment due to rental agreements and so forth. However, as Redman Fisher continues to grow, the current fabrication workshop is too small to deal with the necessary production. The current building needs to be expanded to accommodate for higher production in-house.
Development works are currently underway to create a new storage shed, doubling the available fabrication area to 512m2. The main benefit to this is allowing for more fabrication to take place, however it will improve the workflow between stations and allow for better and safer workstations and operations to be planned and implemented as we move towards leaner management for Redman Fisher. Safety will be improved due to existing restriction for FLT access into the fabrication areas, overall improving the health and safety of our employees.
The construction of the new storage shed will allow for higher levels of stock panels and other products to be managed. Self-colour panels can be stored for longer as they will now be protected from weathering, having a storing location within the new shed. New stocking facilities and racking will be implemented to improve the health and safety of our employees by removing panels from the yard.
Increasing stock levels will enable improved planning for full loads delivered from LWK in the UK, leading to reduced lead times for customers with better access to on-hand stock. The storage area in the new building will be expanded from the current 272m2 to 545m2.
With the development of the new stock shed also comes office building and welfare renovations. After the completion of the storage shed and ground works, the following enhancements will be implemented to accommodate the expanding office team due to business growth. Additionally, these improvements will align with modern welfare requirements and expectations. Facilities in the toilets, canteen and locker area will improved to accommodate the increased number of shop floor employees.
The investment in this project will bring significant improvements across multiple fronts. It includes relocating stock to increase production space, enhancing safety with redesigned work areas, and implementing modern workstations. Operations will benefit from lean manufacturing techniques, optimising space and reducing waste. Land value will rise with expanded fabrication and stock capacity, supported by easy transport access.
